2022 Viaplay Nordic Darts Masters – Finals Day latest

The 2022 Viaplay Nordic Darts Masters concludes with a bumper double session in Copenhagen on Saturday.

After all PDC superstars advanced through Friday’s opening round, Michael Smith, Dimitri Van den Bergh, James Wade and Gary Anderson sealed their semi-final spots on Saturday afternoon, as the world’s top three crashed out.

The final four will now battle it out for the £20,000 top prize as this year’s PDC World Series event culminates in the Danish capital.

Quarter-Final Round-Up

Smith continued his bid for back-to-back World Series titles, recovering from 3-0 down to record a 10-6 victory over last year’s runner-up Fallon Sherrock.

Sherrock converted clinical 88 and 95 combinations to enjoy a dream start, and a terrific 124 finish in leg 10 saw her restore parity at five apiece.

However, US Darts Masters winner Smith claimed five of the next six legs to complete a hard-fought victory and set up a last four showdown against former World Matchplay champion Van den Bergh.

The Belgian will feature in the semi-finals for a second consecutive year, having closed out a dominant 10-5 victory over world number two Gerwyn Price in the afternoon’s opener.

Van den Bergh seized the early initiative with a sublime 144 finish, and although Price reduced the arrears to 6-4, the 27-year-old won four of the last five legs to triumph with an impressive 99 average.

Elsewhere, Wade dumped out defending champion Michael van Gerwen in the last eight, inflicting a chastening 10-4 defeat on the out-of-sorts Dutchman.

Wade established an early 4-1 cushion and never relented, punishing a host of missed opportunities from Van Gerwen to seal his semi-final place in convincing fashion.

The left-hander will play Anderson for a place in Saturday’s showpiece, after the two-time World Champion produced one of his best performances of 2022 to dispatch World Champion Peter Wright 10-4.

Anderson averaged 103.5 and landed nine 180s to prevail in a high-quality all-Scottish affair, closing out a comprehensive 10-4 win despite a 100 average from Wright.

The tournament will be broadcast live on ITV3 for UK viewers, through the PDC’s international broadcast partners, including DAZN and Viaplay, and on PDCTV for Rest of the World Subscribers.
