The city of Boston hosted a Warriors-Celtics Game 6 watch party at Fenway Park on Thursday night. An estimated 10,000 Celtics fans left sadder than they’ve ever been after watching the Dubs win the NBA championship on an outfield screen 400-plus feet away.

According to video posted by local media, fans left the watch party in the fourth quarterleaving the ballpark half empty well before the final buzzer. There were reports of fights after the loss and one Celtics fan walked in front of a CBS Boston live shot outside Fenway and saltily shouted, “F—k Golden State! F—k Golden State!” before wandering off into the sad, cold Boston night.

CBS Boston then immediately cut to a b-roll montage of fans at Fenway from earlier in the night talking about how the Celtics were definitely going to win. The station has since removed the video from the internet.

Fans relentlessly poked fun at the watch party as the Warriors dominated virtually all 48 minutes Thursday night.

“Curious whether they played ‘Sweet Caroline’ at the Fenway watch party when the Celtics were down 15 late,” one fan tweeted.

The loss Celtics fans witnessed Thursday night at Fenway was actually the second time Boston fans watched their team lose to a Bay Area squad — the Oakland A’s toppled the Red Sox 4-3 earlier in the day, despite being outhit by Boston 11-8.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu was on hand for the watch party and actually gave an opening address, shouting “Go Celtics!” to the assembled crowd. The Celtics, unfortunately for the estimated 10,000 fans in attendance, did not go.
