Real Warriors Finals MVP is Nancy Pelosi for not posting

It’s highly possible House Speaker Nancy Pelosi inflicted a curse upon the Golden State Warriors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics.

Before Game 1, the “Team Pelosi” Twitter account posted a picture of the San Francisco Democrat in a Warriors hoodie and a yellow leather military jacket. It’s the same jacket she wore to a news conference on the same day Golden State lost Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals to the Toronto Raptors, so as one might expect, Pelosi was accused of jinxing her hometown team.

Perhaps cognizant of the curse, whoever runs Pelosi’s social media accounts abstained from posting any Warriors-related content through the duration of the NBA Finals. She also did not make a single mention of the Warriors in her last two weekly press conferences — which must have taken a great deal restraint, as she’s made a habit of remarking on Bay Area sports at those events.

It seems the only Warriors comment that publicly left Pelosi’s lips this week was a “Go Warriors” to longtime congressional reporter Jake Sherman in between games 5 and 6.

Following the Warriors’ series-clinching Game 6 victory Thursday night, Pelosi’s social accounts again resumed posting about basketball.

One tweet from the Speaker Pelosi account congratulated the Warriors on winning “four titles in just seven years,” which is technically accurate as the team’s four most recent championships came within an exact seven-year calendar period (June 16, 2015, through June 16, 2022), though most have called it Golden State’s fourth title in eight years because this current run has spanned eight NBA seasons.

It’s a small thing, and certainly not one as important as say, inflation, so we shall let the House Speaker return to her job.
